SEWATAMA RECEIVED ENVIRONMENT AWARDS FROM KALTIM PRIMA COAL

Sewatama received three Best Environment Awards from Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) on Tuesday, November 15, 2011.

Nearing the end of 2010-2011, Sewatama was recognized as the best among KPC’s medium workshops for the following categories: Best Total Score, Best Hydrocarbon Management, and Best Enviro Management system ISO 14001.

The three awards were achieved after receiving Environment Award from KPC in three consecutive years: Third in Hydrocarbon Management Category (2005-2006), followed with First Best Total Score (2007-2008).

“These awards have significant impact on our business there because apart from growing profitably, we must also care for the environment, “ said Zulmi Ahmadi, Manager Operation Services, responding to the recognition received from KPC.

The KPC Environment Award is given each year based on a set of evaluation done in a three-step audit system to all sub-contractors working within the KPC area:

  1. Audit of file, data as well as supporting document on management and storage of hydrocarbon or B3
  2. Interview of field Crew Operator and Safety Officer
  3. Direct observation to cross-check document/data with reality in the field

Zulmi attributed this achievement to the field team’s commitment and cooperation as well as their attitude towards the environment. This is closely tied to Sewatama’s commitment to place safety, health and environment as its top priority as documented in the “Occupational Safety and Health Policy”, signed by N. Hasto Kristiyono, President Director of Sewatama.

Safety Officer monitors safety and health at work as well as care for the environment in the field in an ongoing manner. In addition, good communication with top management and head office supports the above.

On behalf of Sewatama, Agus Riyanto, Site Manager, accepted the Environment Award 2010-2011 in KPC Sangatta, East Kutai, or approximately 180 kilometers from Samarinda, East Kalimantan.

KPC is a high coal thermal producer from one of the largest open-pit mining in the world.  Around 21 Sewatama employees in Sangatta have supported the KPC power supply in the region since January 24, 2005.

The entire Sewatama management and employees congratulate the team for these awards, and hope to continue the good work.
